The Pollution Liability Insurance Agency (PLIA) invites the public to comment. This is a proposal to remove the Chevron 200425 (Site) from the Department of Ecology’s Hazardous Sites List pursuant to WAC 173-340-330(10).

The property is currently a gravel and asphalt covered lot. The site previously operated as a gas station and convenience store. The former gas station had three 12,000-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs) containing unleaded gasoline. Gasoline from the USTs was detected in the soil in 1993 and in the groundwater in 2003. Site characterization occurred between 2007 and 2015 when the gas station was demolished and the three USTs were decommissioned and removed. The polluted soil was removed and transported off property in 2016. Groundwater monitoring results from 2018-2020 show that contaminants were below the state cleanup levels for four consecutive quarters.

PLIA performed regulatory review of the Site under the Petroleum Technical Assistance Program (PTAP). Based on the Site review and groundwater and vapor monitoring results, PLIA determined that the Site meets the substantive requirements of the Model Toxics Control Act. The Site no longer poses a threat to human health or the environment.
